
The very first concert that I saw was from Roy Orbison, and like other first time events, you never forget them. Incidentally he sounded exactly as good in concert as he did on record, which wasn't always the case in the 60's.
Her name was Maria, she came from a mixture of Welsh and Italian parents, she was 14, and she was my first love of my life. Walking home through the countryside lanes at night after visiting her, I would sing this song out loud for all the world to hear. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was 'head over heels' in love with her, I wonder where she is now ?

James Sheppard was formally lead singer with the 'Heartbeats' ( Thousand Miles Away ), in 1961 he had a hit with this, almost identical song. In 1970 he was robbed and murdered on the 'Long Island Expressway'.
